Robocop / 24 Connection

Ok so this is the illest shit. Me and my boys (Pete, James and Fuckface) watch 24 every week. Smoke a few bats, have a few beers and chill out. So of course this week we see the usual Henderson character play by Robocop himself, Peter Weller, doing his usual mercenary thing. And then bam, out of nowhere comes the guy with the headset that's running things with bluetooth technology. That's when Pete recognized him as also being in Robocop. And we're joking around saying it wouldn't it be cool if all those other characters from Robocop were in it too. I'm thinking about it, I get home and then it hits me. I call up Pete to confirm, "Wasn't Vice President Gardner in Robocop?"

For those not in the Know, like if you're a total fucking social recluse that's been living in some dead chick's ass crack for the past 20 years, Robocop was one of the illest movies of it's time and I ain't talking about the bullshit sequels when he fights ninja's and shit. If you're into gratuitous violence, sex gratis and all around awesomeness that well melt your fucking eyes to the back of your skull check out Paul Ver Hooven's 1987 Robocop. It's a emotional, heart wrenching story of Alex Murphy the perfect cop. Who when killed he continues his duty and sense of justice as Robocop. His aim is perfect, his body is nearly bullet proof, and his short command like phrases make him a classic superhero.

Again for the social outcasts that have been sharing a room for let with Jimmy Hoffa in Redding North Dakota, 24 is the hotest show on television right now. Period. End of Story.

The ROBOCOP / 24 CHARACTER CONNECTION

Here we see Peter Well As Robocop and as Henderson

Next up we have Ray Wise, Playing Leon Nash in Robocop and Vice President Gardner in 24.

He's the non-Asian guy on the right. One of Clarence Boddicker's henchmen. In that scene they are blasting the shit out cop Alex Murphy. They keep shooting until they run out of bullets. In the photo on the right he's just smiling.

Lastly we have this new guy who just made an appearance this week played by Paul McCrane. He appears to be the puppet master, the real brains behind the evil operation to destroy the world. He always had a thing for brains. In Robocop you may remember him as Emil Antonowsky one of Clarence Boddicker's henchmen. He helps to kill Alex Murphy and later recognizes the man in Robocop and proclaims "We Killed You." Emil robs a gas station and nicknames the clerk "College Boy" and asks if he thinks he can outsmart a bullet. Emil dies in a mutated form begging for help as a result of toxic waste spillage.

Yeah so that's the connection if we spot something else I'll be sure to let you know. And if you spot something new drop a line.

Enjoi bitches.

I'm High.

WTF JF?

Her dad made her feel that she was fat? What the fuck is Jane Fonda talking about now? She talks about the strangest shit. That's what I'm asking myself. I'm watching Larry King, because there's only 20 minutes until Baseball Tonight, and this dumb ass tram is preempting everything else on tv.

"When I realized I was turning 60 that this would be my last act"

Yeah, you guessed it, she's hocking a book.

But Larry did us proper and showed clips of Barbarella when he went to commercial.

Music Match (Because I'm Indecisive)

<---This is a Zen Micro Mp3 player. I have one. It's pretty handy. However it has less space than my last Mp3 player.

This is My Album List.

Anyway, I can't fit all my music on this here mp3 player. But that's where you come in. I would like you to help me compile the most awesome playlist ever.

So take a look at my album list, and choose one to add to the Zen and leave your pick and name in my comments. I'll then enter it into my mp3 player and I'll know who's recommendation it is. If you really like me, leave a few suggestions.

Peas out.

Book # 10 Foundation and Empire by Isaac Asimov

Oh Right Following up on the below post, started reading the second book in the Foundation Series, Cleverly titled Foundation and Empire. As usual I'll let everyone know how this turns out. I've been reading that these are the best sci fi books ever. Also, T.Fouges informed me that there are supposedly two more part to Dylan's chronicles, can't wait until those come out. If anyone knows any info about these pass it on.

Hook a brother up.

Foundation Follow Up

It's been a while, but yes I'm still alive. Finished Foundation this week and it is one of my favorite sci fi books I've ever read. It may be my favorite book since I don't do Sci fi. For those of you that don't know Foundation is a series of books by Isaac Asimov about the decline and rebuilding of a galactic empire. Sounds geeky? Not really. It's a dense story, tightly woven showing how politics, religon and technology all shape and control society. Deep stuff, a timeless theme makes it really cool. This book doesn't have to take place in some future society on some unknown planet. I can't wait to start the second book in the series. I'm telling everyone right now that they should read this book. At least give the first one a chance and see if you like it.

ABOUT FOUNDATION:
it's the tale of the fall of the Galactic Empire and the rise of the Foundation. Pretty normal so far, except for the fact that the Foundation's destiny is guided by psychohistory, a scientific method of predicting the future, developed the the Foundation's founder, Hari Seldon. Hari Seldon plots the paths of the Foundation, from its start to, one thousand years later, its leadership of the galaxy.
In 'Foundation', the early golden days of the Foundation are told, of how the society managed to gain survival and ultimately pre-eminence in it's local sector, not through violence, but through cunning.

HERE'S FROM WIKIPEDIA:
The Foundation Series is an epic science fiction series written over a span of forty-nine years by Isaac Asimov. It consists of ten volumes (about one million words), which, although they can be read separately, are closely linked to one another. The term 'Foundation Series' is often used more generally to include the Robot Series and Empire Series, which are set in the same fictional universe. They have a combined length of fourteen novels and dozens of short stories written by Asimov, and six novels written by other authors after his death. It is widely considered the best, or at least the most influential, science fiction series ever

The premise of the series is that mathematician Hari Seldon has spent his life developing a branch of mathematics known as psychohistory, a concept devised by Asimov and his editor John W. Campbell. It uses the law of mass action to predict the future on a large scale, such as of planets or empires. Using these techniques, Seldon foresees the fall of the Galactic Empire, which encompasses the entire Milky Way. He also predicts that there will be a thirty-thousand-year dark age before the next great empire rises. To prevent this, he decides to create a small secluded haven of technology in a corner of the galaxy (on the planet Terminus) called the Foundation, whose job it will be to preserve knowledge after the collapse, thus reducing the time required for the next Empire to rebuild. If done properly, it will take only a thousand years before the next empire rises.

I'm Up Late and Everyone I Know is Sleeping

Shit I don't even know what to write, I was just sitting at my desk and I felt like bloggin. I should be sleeping but that's what the train ride to work is for in the morning. I was thinking today if you cut off a midgets finger off A) do they only bleed a little? B) Does it grow back like a lizard tail? If anyone knows the answer to this question please respond back so I can add it to my compendium of knowledge that I plan on passing to my children. Also if anyone wants to dethrone me and Fogues in Quiz Show I suggest you head to Capones in Williamsburg, that's where we hold the record. If you want to dethrone James or myself I suggest you head to Three Jolly Pigeons in Bay Ridge we have the record there too, unless they reset the machine. And if you want to dethrone me in spy hunter, I suggest you go to Jenks Pizza on Route 9, I was there in summer '90 and rocked that shit.
For those that care, picked up a yellow #8 filter and a red #25 as well as a wratten #90 viewing filter. For those that know what it is, I can't wait to try them out.
See mission accomplished, I told myself I wanted to blog but not rant and I did. Wheee.

Bums, Booze and Respect.

Holy shit here I go again. Let start this off with bums. Everyday to and from work I would see these bums passed out in their shanty town by the 8th Avenue stop on the N train. They may have been dead. Surrounded by beer and cardboard they once fashioned an abandoned oven into a bed. I can't even say they were productive bums they would be sleeping at 8 in the morning and be in the same spot at 6 when I got home. They may have been dead.
Getting off the N train at Union Square last week I saw a bum at a garbage pail on the platform. He dug out some Gillette roll on deodorant. He was grinning and smearing the clear gel all over his face and smelling his fingers. Attractive.
Coming home on the 6 train a man was spread full eagle stretched across the seats. His shirt was too high and his pants were too low. He may have been dead.
Another time on the 6 train, during rush hour mind you, a deranged homeless lady (that's my favorite of the 6 main varieties of bums, because they are easy to cast spells on and have a -2 dexterity and a +4 encumbrance) was sitting next to a Haute couture European broad talking about shittin and "how the white man be sitting when they shittn' and but down other races like they don't shit". Then then European lady pointed out to homeless lady that maybe she had too much to drink. Wild laughing and more talk about shittin' ensued.

Yeah forgot to mention I went at lunch for St. Pats last month. Took me about 2.5 hours to make it back to office. Upon which time I promptly ordered a pizza. Drinking and having to go back to a desk is fucked up. It does things to you. It somehow convinces you that your job is a game and that you must try to somehow win by doing work. Of course by Monday morning you're like "what the fuck did I do on Friday?"
Then that next week I went to a wine week lunch at a fancy restaurant by park avenue. Holy shit talk about assault with alcohol. You sit down and they are flanking you with gay waiters and wine. It's like shit lady I don't even drink wine, can you hook me up with some Hurricane or Colt 45? Then they give you all these fucking options when you go to order a steak. Here's how I like my steak - cooked. Is that so fucking hard. I felt a bit out of place in that restaurant, especially since I was surrounded by about six glasses of red wine that I wouldn't touch.
And what's all this shit being thrown around in the sports world about teams playing with "[a] Chip on their shoulder?" They need respect. Respect my ass. Who do they need respect from? From the ticket holders that pay their salary? From other players that just care about themselves? Christ it's laughable. Even the suckiest players on the suckiest teams have it better than working a 9 to 5. Respect, I'll give you respect when you fucking bury you parents, cure cancer, invent a longer lasting light bulb and win the triple crown.

I need a hot pocket.

Book # 9 Foundation By Isaac Asimov

First off, Finished Chronicles. Good book. I recommend it. I actually wait with anticipation to see if and when a volume 2 comes out. The chronology, or lack there of is what I found interesting about the book. Three parts to it, all different time periods, yet they all seem connected. From recording in New Orleans, having beer with Bono, to hanging around the Gaslight in the village it all makes sense.

Started reading Foundation. It comes highly recommended from T. Fogues. Also, Asimov and Vonnegut were boys so how bad could it be. I don't think I've read a sci fi book since I was like 14 but I'm willing to give it a shot, besides Asimov is supposed to be the best.

Story so far, mind you I'm only about 30-40 pages in. Mathematician leaves his home planet, which is basically in the burbs of the galaxy to come to his new job working on a secret project of sorts on what basically is the most heavily populated planet in the galaxy, something like 40billion people. Anyway he finds out his job involves predicting the fall of the galactic empire and this is when all shit goes wrong. Again I'm just starting it but I'll keep you posted how it works out.
